Laboratory
The Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University has seven laboratories to support lecture activities, namely the Integrated Biomedical Laboratory, Biochemistry Laboratory, Anatomy Laboratory, Physiology Laboratory, Histology Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Pharmacology Laboratory and Parasitology Laboratory. The details of the laboratory are described below:
1. Integrated Biomedical Laboratory
The Integrated Biomedical Laboratory is located on the 4th floor of the Cakra Vidya Usadha Building, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, precisely adjacent to the east stairs. The integrated biomedical laboratory has facilities to support the implementation of several types of molecular laboratory techniques such as PCR (end-point PCR and rtPCR), electrophoresis, histological preparations (H&E and IHC), ELISA procedures, and bacterial culture.
2. Biochemistry Laboratory
The Biochemistry Laboratory is located on the 2nd floor of the West Building, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, to be precise, adjacent to the east stairs. This laboratory has facilities that can be used to perform PCR, ELISA, and DNA/Protein isolation procedures. The room in this laboratory can only accommodate a maximum of 6 people and is generally only used for research activities while teaching activities are transferred to a larger laboratory such as the LBT laboratory.
3. Anatomy Laboratory
The Anatomy Laboratory is located on the 1st floor of the West Building, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, south of Resto Udayana to be exact. This laboratory is divided into 2 areas, namely wet and dry laboratories. The dry laboratory area is used for the learning process of anatomy courses which involve mannequins of anatomical model props and are accompanied by glass-coated cadaver. On the other hand, the wet laboratory area is used for closer study of cadaver and preserved organs. Each laboratory area has a capacity of 50-70 students.
4. Physiology Laboratory
The Physiology Laboratory is divided into two different locations, namely on the 2nd floor of the West Building and the 4th floor of the Cakra Vidya Usadha Building, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. The two laboratories are distinguished based on the practicum objectives. The Physiology Laboratory located on the 2nd floor of the West Building aims to practice physiology courses involving light physical activities such as attitude and balance tests using the Barany chair method, light and sound stimulation with a reaction timer. On the other hand, the Physiology Laboratory located on the 4th floor of the Cakra Vidya Usadha Building aims for practicums involving heavy physical activity such as flexibility tests, sergeant jump tests, cooper tests, and others. The capacity of students that can be accommodated in this laboratory ranges from 40-50 students.
5. Histology Laboratory
The Histology Laboratory is located on the 4th floor of the West Building, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, to be precise, adjacent to the west stairs, south of Dr.A.A. Room. Made Djelantik Theater Rooms. This laboratory facilitates 20-30 microscopes that can be used to support learning in histology courses. This laboratory is equipped with facilities for making tissue preparations and tissue staining (H&E and Immunohistochemistry). There is a lecture hall that can accommodate 120 students.
6. Laboratory of Microbiology
The Microbiology Laboratory is located on the 2nd floor of the West Building, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, precisely adjacent to the east stairs. This laboratory has a capacity of 5-10 students. Before entering the laboratory, there is an appeal related to the use of PPE which aims to protect laboratory assistants and students during activities in the Microbiology Laboratory area. In addition, there is also a shelf for closed shoes and a place for lab coats. This laboratory is equipped with facilities for carrying out bacterial culture and PCR procedures with additional facilities in the form of a -80?
7. Pharmacology Laboratory
The Pharmacology Laboratory is located on the 4th floor of the Cakra Widya Usadha building. The laboratory is equipped with facilities for making plant extracts, making formulations, testing experimental animals. Before conducting an experiment, researchers (students or lecturers) are required to obtain permission from LBT by paying an administrative fee. In carrying out research, students or lecturers can be assisted by trained analysts who are available in each laboratory and are responsible for maintaining laboratory security. After the research is completed, the researcher is required to collect a research log book and may request a letter of proof of the completion of the research
8. Laboratory of Parasitology
The Parasitology Laboratory is located on the 2nd floor of the West Building, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, precisely adjacent to the east stairs.
